RICHMOND, Virginia (IMB) - Since 1845, nearly 25,000 Southern Baptist missionaries have shared the Gospel, made disciples, planted churches and settled their families in 185 countries around the world. Sending Celebrations are a time to commission new missionaries. The missionaries further the vision of reaching all peoples with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Sending Celebration was supposed to take place during the SBC Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Due to the Annual Meeting’s cancellation, IMB has moved the celebration to an online event on June 9 at 5 p.m. (MT).
The 59 new missionaries and two, whom the board appointed in January, will serve within each of IMB’s nine global affinities: the Americas; Central Asia; Deaf; East Asia; Europe; Northern Africa and the Middle East; South Asia; Southeast Asia; and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Join the Facebook Live event at Facebook.com/imb.sbc and vimeo.com/imbmissions. Attendees will hear stories of how God called the missionaries into His service. They can also join others in praying over the missionaries as they prepare to make their homes overseas for the sake of the Gospel. A downloadable, printable prayer card is available at tiny.cc/IMBcard (link is case sensitive) to help attendees keep the missionaries in their prayers.
