Ruidoso Deacons

Todd Sullens, pastor of First Baptist Church, Ruidoso, prays over Kenneth and LaNita Dixon and Bill and Neta Gill during a service honoring the men for over 75 years of service as deacons in the church. H.P. Hale and his wife, Anndy, were also honored with Dixon and Gill but were unable to attend the recognition ceremony.

RUIDOSO (BNM) - First Baptist Church, Ruidoso, recently honored Kenneth Dixon, Bill Gill and H. P. Hale for more than 75 combined years of service as deacons at First Baptist.

While Hale was unable to attend the ceremony, each man received a plaque by pastor Todd Sullens that "promoted" him to Deacon Emeritus Mentor. Their wives, LaNita Dixon, Neta Gill, and Anndy Hale, each received a basket of goodies, which included chocolates.

"Kenneth Dixon, Bill Gill, and H.P. Hale are examples that there is no retirement from God's Kingdom work. These men did not want any recognition, but we honor their service and promote them to Deacon Emeritus Mentor." Sullens said.

Sullens noted that though the three men would not actively be ministering to the needs of the church family, they will be great encouragers to the younger deacons. Sullens said, "First Baptist Church, Ruidoso, is healthier today because of the investments these men have made into our lives."

By unanimous vote, before the worship service, Brad Treptow, David Shriver, Mike Young, and Jerry McDonald were elected to soon be ordained into the deacon body.
