Editor’s Note: Worship pastor Clark Henderson, mentioned in this story, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday Oct. 24 after leading worship at the Annual Meeting on Tuesday Oct. 20. New Mexico Baptists extend their prayers and sympathies to his family. He now worships God in person.

ALBUQUERQUE (BNM) - The Baptist Convention of New Mexico’s 2020 Annual Meeting at Hoffmantown Church, Albuquerque, Oct. 20, included worship sets and special recognitions.

Teams from three BCNM churches led worship during the abbreviated, one-day Annual Meeting. Members of the host church led worship first. Directed by David Hopkins, the team included Kristie Stafford, Marlene Willems, Mike Paquette, Amy Paquette, Maria Janow, Terry Janow, Paul Civerolo and Janna Tarbell. Immediately following the lunch break, Clark Henderson and members of the worship team from Sandia Baptist Church, Albuquerque, led another segment of worship. That team included Henderson, Serena Wilson and Missy Hill. Later that afternoon, Chad Spriggs and the worship team from Anchor Church, Albuquerque, led the final worship set. Jair Largo, Matt Miller and Mason Norris joined Spriggs on the platform.

Joseph Bunce, the BCNM’s executive director, recognized Connie Dixon for serving as the state’s WMU director for 13 years. She is retiring. Bunce presented her with two pieces of luggage. Dixon thanked the BCNM and messengers for their support over the years.

Bunce recognized State Mission Board members who had completed their term. Each one received a plaque: Jacob Bassing, First Baptist Church, Roswell; Steve Mulkey, Angel Fire Baptist Church; and Floyd Silva, Soul Rio Church, Rio Rancho.

John Hinze, pastor of First Baptist Church, Tucumcari, and New Mexico’s International Mission Board trustee, presented Bunce with a gift of appreciation for his support of the IMB.

Customarily, new church staff members introduce themselves at the Annual Meeting. The 2020 group included Cory Skipper, Anchor Church North, Albuquerque; Chris Castorena, First Baptist Church, Santa Fe; Dan Cappell, First Baptist Church, Cuba; ColetonD, Christian Challenge, Las Cruces; Lee Eddy, Calvary Southern Baptist Church, Bloomfield; Dusty Marshall, New Life Baptist Fellowship, Alamogordo; Nathaniel White, First Baptist Church, Gallup; Joshua Dancer, Bethel Baptist Church, Alamogordo; Phillip Smith, First Baptist Church, Portales; Michael Vallandingham, Del Norte Baptist Church, Albuquerque; Thomas Anderson, First Baptist Church, Cimarron; Josh Faucett, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Portales; and Aaron Ricks, Sandia Baptist Church, Albuquerque.

Jared Bridge, BCNM president, Albuquerque, thanked the Deaf and Spanish translators for their work during the meeting.
