Adam Greenway

Adam Greenway is the ninth president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas.

ALBUQUERQUE (BNM) - Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President Adam Greenway will preach during the Baptist Convention of New Mexico’s 2020 New Mexico Evangelism Conference, Feb. 24-25 at Sandia Baptist Church, Albuquerque.

Greenway has served as president of the Southwestern since Feb. 27, 2019. He is the institution’s ninth president, assuming the position following a six-month search to find a replacement for immediate past president, Paige Patterson.

Greenway was born in Frostproof, Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama (1998); a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas (2002); a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Evangelism and Apologetics degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky (2007); and a Master of Nonprofit Administration degree from University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business Administration, South Bend, Indiana (2016).

Before assuming the presidency at SWBTS, Greenway served as dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism, and Ministry at SBTS. Concurrently, he served as the William Walker Brookes associate professor of evangelism and apologetics. He additionally held several other administrative positions at SBTS.

Greenway as also served as senior pastor of The Baptist Church at Andover, Lexington, Kentucky; and as interim pastor at churches in Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Florida.

In addition to his seminary and pastoral experience, Greenway has served in various other capacities within the SBC and Kentucky Baptist Convention. From 2005-2015, Greenway served on LifeWay Christian Resources’ board of trustees; from 2011-2012, he served as president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention; and in 2018, he served as vice-chairman of the SBC’s Evangelism Task Force. Greenway is the current chairman of the SBC’s Committee on Order of Business.

Greenway and his wife, Carla, have two children: Wade and Caroline.
