For the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Baptist Convention of New Mexico held Oct. 21-23 at Central Baptist Church of Clovis, New Mexico and the New Mexico Baptist Children’s Home and Family Ministries of Portales, New Mexico.

Resolution #1 on Reaching the Next Generation of New Mexicans:

The messengers of the 107th BCNM State Convention recognize:

  1. We are called to join God in fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by making disciples of all nations …
  2. The vast majority of those who come to faith in Jesus Christ do so before the age of 18 …
  3. 23 percent of New Mexicans are under the age of 18 …
  4. The Baptist Convention of New Mexico has a goal of having 10% of New Mexicans in a BCNM congregation by 2025 …
  5. We are commanded to teach our children the commands of Scripture (Deuteronomy 6:5-9) …

Therefore, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the BCNM calls upon its churches and their respective members to engage often in deliberate, planned and urgent Gospel ministry to the children within the state of New Mexico.

Resolution #2 on Appreciation

The messengers of the 107th BCNM State Convention recognize:

  1. The staff and members of Central Baptist Church of Clovis, New Mexico have been gracious and hospitable by making its staff and facilities available to the Baptist Convention of New Mexico …

Resolution #4 on Christians Taking Responsibility in the Public Square

Whereas, no governing body exists except that which has been established by God (Romans 13:1) and whereas, God has ordained the family, the church and the government and whereas, Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” and whereas, it pleases God that His people pray interceding for and thanking God for all those in authority (1Timothy 2:1-2).

Therefore, BE IT RESOLVE THAT the messengers of the 2019 New Mexico Baptist Convention encourage pastors and church members to become educated and informed about the moral issues we face in our nation today; and be it further resolved that we humble ourselves and seek God’s face and pray for the healing of our nation; and be it further resolved that we pray for all individuals in political office and all candidates that are seeking public office; and be it further resolved that we encourage all Christians along with New Mexico Baptists to be involved in the great blessing that God has given us to freely elect our leaders and live in this nation of the free; and be it finally resolved that pastors encourage their congregations to participate in the democratic process by prayerfully casting an informed vote.
