Quemado (BNM) - First Baptist Church, Quemado has called Russell (Rusty) Stewart as its new pastor.
Stewart had recently moved to New Mexico, not necessarily looking for a pastorate. Stewart asked about pastorless churches in the area that were looking for a pastor, and found that First Baptist Church, Quemado, was currently searching. Stewart preached for the church for two Sundays in June, and the congregation felt he was God’s man to be the church’s next pastor. The congregation voted to call him as pastor on Sunday, June 16.
Stewart graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in lab technology.
Stewart pastored Freedom Memorial Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, for 10 years.
Stewart, most recently, worked as a research lab technician for AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio, for four years.
Stewart’s biography said, “Having been led of the Lord, ... Rusty and his wife decided to look for a better life in New Mexico and began seeking work in Albuquerque. The journey from lab tech to pastor in Quemado has been one of God’s divine movements.”
Stewart and his wife, Stefani, have four sons: Lucas, age 16; Jacob, age 15; Simon, age 12; and Devin, age 6.
