Debra J. McDouglas Ward

LOVINGTON (BNM) – Jackson Avenue Baptist Church, Lovington, welcomed Debra J. McDouglas Ward onto its staff in February. She will serve as director of education. Ward is a longtime resident of the Lovington area. She has two grown children, Trent and Amy, both of Lovington. Ward's new position with Jackson Avenue will be her first ministry staff position at a church.

Ward served the State of New Mexico in several capacities throughout her career. Most recently, she was an investigator for Adult Protective Services. Before that, Ward worked with Children, Youth and Families Department investigating client referrals. She has also worked in the juvenile probation department of CYFD and as a parole officer.

Ward has experience working with children, having been a foster parent herself. She also previously worked in children's homes in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico and has helped many troubled children. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in human relations from the College of the Southwest. She received her degree in 2003.

According to Dave Rowser, pastor of Jackson Avenue Baptist Church, "Ward has a heart for God and a love for children. She seeks to see people come to faith in Christ and become vital and profitable disciples."
