ELIDA, N.M. (BNM) – First Baptist Church, Elida called Cheston Fair as their new pastor on Sunday, Feb. 9. Fair began his new role on Mar. 1.
Fair has been involved in the youth ministry for the last 13 years, leading Sunday school classes, teaching up to 50 kids on Wednesday nights, taking kids to camps and on mission trips. He most recently has been serving as the youth pastor at First Baptist Church, Logan, since January 2007.
Fair has a long history of work as a rancher and in construction. He is currently a ranch foreman, with typical ranch duties from feeding and taking care of 800 head of cattle to maintaining windmills, mechanic repairs and running heavy equipment. Other experience has been in the construction field and as a horseshoer and horse trainer.
Fair was born and raised in the Portales area, having graduated from Floyd High School in 1999. He surrendered to the ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, Portales. The family has been living in Logan for the past 13 ½ years, but are moving to Elida.
Fair and his wife, Beth, have three children: Ryan, age 17; Tanlea, age 15 and Zoey, age 7.
