CLOVIS (BNM) - Phillip Wright accepted the call as the new youth pastor at Central Baptist Church, Clovis. He began his new responsibilities on July 27.
Central called Wright to serve as its ministry intern in September 2018. The next step for him was to fill the position as youth pastor.
Wright served one year on the Christian Challenge leadership team for Eastern New Mexico University ( Jan. to Dec. 2019). Wright graduated from Eastern (2019) with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He minored in religion. He is pursuing a master’s degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisiana.
Previously, Wright served as youth ministry intern at First Baptist Church, Artesia; as pastoral intern and youth ministry catalyst at Church at Affton, St. Louis, Missouri; and as youth worship leader at Canaan Baptist Church, St. Louis, Missouri.
Wright answered God’s call to vocational ministry at the age of 14 at a summer camp in Missouri. He said he was very thankful for the doors God has opened for him throughout his ministry. “I work well with others. I want to submit to the authority of the church’s leadership and serve others the way Jesus served during His ministry,” Wright said.
“I have grown deeper in my own life. I have had the privilege of leading students to Christ and witness growth in their faith.” Wright said in his résumé. “I experienced those precious moments when the light bulb turns on, and the Word of God speaks.”
“I love to serve and help others. I strive to put others above myself. I have a love for God’s Word and its inerrancy and authority in the midst of confrontations. And, as well, its gentleness and tenderness for the hurting and brokenhearted,” Wright concluded.
Wright and his wife, Tiffany, married in 2019.
