Manuel Longoria


ALBUQUERQUE (BNM) – First Bilingual Baptist Church, Albuquerque, called a new pastor who began his ministry to the church and community July 1.

Manuel “Manny” Longoria, Jr., previously served as senior pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista, Austin, Texas. He also pastored Emmanuel Baptist Church, Alice, Texas, and First Baptist Church of South Houston, Houston, Texas. In denominational work, he served as the associate director of missions, Lubbock Baptist Association, Texas; served on associational committees in Coastal Bend, Gregg, Caprock-Plains and Union Baptist associations, all in Texas; served as associational moderator for Union Baptist Association; and served on the Baptist General Convention of Texas’ executive board.

Longoria earned an associate degree from Cisco College, Cisco, Texas (1989). He graduated with the Presidential Achievement Award from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He has six hours remaining to earn a religion degree from Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas.

Longoria fluently speaks both Spanish and English. He married his wife, Berta, in 1992. The couple has two adult sons: Oscar Armando and Juan Carlos “JC.”
